Painting Sun & Moon Art Supply list: Please pay attention to my video for organization!
Set up a felt on a flat table surface, then paper towels under your flower plate, and water cup.
Brushes: use a brush rest to organize your brushes.
Use 1 5/8”wide bamboo brush for the sun or moon around your dish.
Use 1” wide bamboo brush for the sunset colors.
Wash out 1 5/8” wide bamboo brush for water on your left hand.
A flat blending plate to check your color loading.
A flower plate or stack-able round dishes to put your colors.
Watercolor paints: Yellow, Vermilion for sun or moon.
Sky: blue or blue, sap green, earth tones: light brown.
Paper choices: 1st choice double shuen (rice paper), 130 lb. or 90 lb. watercolor paper, or mixed media.

Tips for Sun, Pine, and Cranes composition 2 options:

  1. Leave the background white, create sun, pine, then cranes.
  2. If you want colorful sunset background, paint cranes first and then paint sunset & color washes around the cranes. Be careful not to use too much water around the cranes, to avoid color bleeding.
