Set up a felt on a flat table surface, then paper towels under your flower plate, and water cup.
Brushes (use a brush rest to organize your brushes)
Extra Fine tip & Flower tip for pine needles
Long mountain horse brush for stems
Rooster tail for medium size branches.
A flat blending plate to check your color loading.
A flower plate to put your colors.
Watercolor Paints: Vermilion, sap green, dark green, black ink.
Paper choices: 1st choice use single or double shuen (rice paper), sketch paper or mixed media.
Tips for Sun, Pine, and Cranes composition 2 options:
- Leave the background white, create sun, pine, then cranes.
- If you want colorful sunset background, paint cranes first and then paint sunset & color washes around the cranes. Be careful not to use too much water around the cranes, to avoid color bleeding.
